Summer Session 2010 - Academic Calendar and Deadlines

Important Note: Deadlines for adding, dropping, and withdrawing from Summer courses, along with the refund dates for these actions, are posted with each course in the Schedule of Classes. Be aware that each course has different dates and deadlines. Go to http://classes.uoregon.edu and find the course, then click on the CRN of the course (the five-digit number that is underlined) to get to the detail page about the course. The academic deadlines are listed there.

March 5 (Friday)
• Course offerings for summer available
August 4 (Wednesday)
• Fall registration re-opens at 8:00 a.m. for fall transactions
May 3-7
• Initial registration for summer
August 11 (Wednesday)
• End of first eight-week courses
• End of second session of four-week courses
June 14-18
• Pre-session week classes
August 12-13
•Final Exams for courses meeting the first eight weeks of summer session and the second four weeks of summer session are held per the Summer Final Exam Schedule
June 21 (Monday)
• Summer classes begin
• Financial Aid Disbursement begins
August 13 (Friday)
• Last day to: Submit Master’s Statement of Completion to the Graduate School
• Last day to: Hold final oral defense of doctoral dissertations
June 28 - August 3
• Fall registration is closed to continuing students; DuckWeb registration system reopens August 4 at 8am.
August 14 (Saturday)
• Summer session graduation commencement
July 1 (Thursday)
• First tuition installment due (1/3 of assessed tuition, plus current and past-due balance)
August 24 (Tuesday)
• Last day to: Submit Doctoral/Masters theses and dissertations to the Graduate School
• Last day to: Submit Doctoral Certificates of Completion to the Graduate School
July 2 (Friday)
• Last day to apply for summer 2010 graduate degrees (see Graduate School Campus Resources)
September 1 (Wednesday)
• Third tuition installment due (1/3 of assessed tuition, plus current and past-due balance)
July 5 (Monday)
• Independence Day holiday observed; no classes held
September 3 (Friday)
• End of eleven-week courses
July 16 (Friday)
• End of first session of four-week courses
September 6 (Monday)
• Labor Day holiday; no classes held
July 18 (Sunday)
• Last day to: Apply for summer 2010 undergraduate degrees in DuckWeb
September 7 (Tuesday, noon)
• Final deadline for all summer grades
July 23 (Friday)
• Doctoral final oral defense applications due in the Graduate School
August 1 (Sunday)
• Second tuition installment due (1/3 of assessed tuition, plus current and past-due balance)

Note about Summer grades: in most cases, instructors are expected to submit grades within a reasonable time after their classes end; e.g., classes that end on a Friday should be submitted during the following week, preferably by Tuesday. Some departments may state earlier deadlines to facilitate pre-requisite checking for summer sequences.)
