Overview | FAQ | Accessing Reports | Using the Report Browser Frequently Asked Questions about Online Course EvaluationsTable of ContentsFrequently Asked Questions for StudentsHow do I find the course evaluation system? To access the course evaluation system, log into DuckWeb as usual, then click on the “Course Evaluation” link at the bottom of the page. A new browser window will open with the course evaluation system. When is the online course evaluation system open?Evaluations open at midnight Friday the weekend prior to the last week of the term and close midnight on Sunday prior to the beginning of final exams. This gives students two weekends and a full week to complete their evaluations. How does the grade release system work?Effective Winter 2008 Term: Students who complete (or opt out of) each of their evaluations by midnight Sunday before Finals Week begins will be able to begin viewing their grades Monday evening of Finals Week. Students who do not complete (or opt out of) each of their evaluations by the deadline will have a grades and transcripts hold placed on their record until the Friday after the grading deadline. At that point, students will be able to view their grades and order transcripts. What can I do if I missed the course evaluation deadline?Evaluations cannot be completed after the deadline. It is not possible for students to complete evaluations late in order to get their grades. How can I see my grades if I do not want to evaluate courses that are on my list?Evaluations are optional. You can opt out of a course evaluation by clicking on the "Decline" button at the bottom of the first page of that course’s evaluation. I keep getting reminders to complete my evaluations. How can I get them to stop?Reminders are programmed into the online course evaluation system and will stop once you submit (or opt out of) all your evaluations. Not all of my courses are appearing on my list. Why not?Courses that are independent study do not have evaluations. All other courses for which you are registered should appear on your list. Courses added by petition after the seventh week of the term will not be on your list. As you complete evaluations, the system will alert you about which evaluations you have yet to complete. How do I evaluate courses that are not on my list? You cannot evaluate courses for which you are not registered or which do not appear on your list. Can I get to my course evaluations through BlackBoard? No; BlackBoard is not linked to the online course evaluation system. Can I modify an evaluation that I have already submitted? No; once you submit your evaluation, you cannot go back and make changes or additions. Why are evaluations only open during the last week of classes? The decision about the timing of course evaluations rests with the faculty. The window for course evaluations was set by Faculty Senate Legislation last year after substantial discussion. What if I have more than one instructor for a course? You will be asked to evaluate each instructor. I have a course that has a lecture and a discussion section. What do I do?You will be asked to evaluate both the lecture and discussion separately. How can I get help?Call or e-mail the Office of the Registrar at registrar@uoregon.edu or (541) 346-2935. Phone hours are 8 to noon and 1 to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Frequently Asked Questions for FacultyWhich courses are evaluated? All courses except those that are independent study are evaluated. How is anonymity maintained? The University of Oregon has contracted with an outside vendor to manage and store the evaluation data. The University of Oregon does not have access to the student’s identifying data. When are evaluations available for students to complete?Evaluations open at midnight Friday the weekend prior to the last week of the term and close midnight on Sunday prior to the beginning of final exams. This gives students two weekends and a full week to complete their evaluations. When can I see my courses’ evaluation results? Results for all evaluations will be available following all final grade processing in completed. Faculty will be notified via e-mail when the report system opens. Who can see the results?
Students who complete all their evaluations will be able to see their grades beginning Monday of Final’s Week as faculty submit their grade rosters and the Registrar’s Office rolls grades to “academic history.” Students who do not complete or opt out of their evaluations will have their grades and transcripts withheld until Friday after the grading deadline ends. This practice is in place at UO’s peer institutions and has been successful in achieving high response rates. I am both a student and an instructor. How do I view the results from the courses I taught? The online course evaluation system will default you to the student page for completing evaluations. At the bottom of the page, you will see a link to the report browser. Click on that link to get to the instructor reports. What is UO’s Course Evaluation Policy?
