How do I apply for or obtain general information about a study abroad program?

For information about study abroad programs contact Global Education Oregon or the Global Studies Institute.

When will my study abroad course work appear on my UO transcript?

As soon as the Office of the Registrar receives an official (hard copy) transcript from the study abroad institution. The official transcript will be processed within 3-5 business days

Why does my study abroad course work only count as elective credit?

The course has either been designated as an elective by the relevant UO academic department, or a syllabus has not been received and evaluated by the relevant UO academic department.

How will I know if my study abroad courses will count at the UO?

Check the study abroad course equivalencies below. If the course is not listed, please work directly with the department that best aligns with the subject matter. The department will need to review a syllabus or any other relevant course materials. Courses will receive lower-division elective credit until department approval is received.

Where should my official (hard copy) study abroad transcript be sent?

Currently enrolled University of Oregon students should mail their transcripts to:

OFFICE OF THE REGISTRAR
ATTN: STUDY ABROAD
5257 UNIVERSITY OF OREGON
EUGENE OR 97403-5257

This page will help you determine how courses from Global Education Oregon (GEO) and Global Studies Institute (GSI) will apply toward your UO requirements.

For more information please visit the Study Abroad Program Support page.

UO departments determine the course levels for UO study abroad courses if the program does not already have established course levels. Please work directly with the department that best aligns with the subject matter to determine course level and major or minor approvals. Save any syllabi or other course documents while on your program to provide to the department(s) for their evaluation process. If the course that you are looking up is not listed or indicates that “no syllabus submitted for evaluation”, please work directly with the appropriate department for an evaluation of your study abroad courses.
