Preparing to Graduate

Preparing for graduation is important for student success. Along with meeting with academic advisors on a regular basis, students should check Ducks on Track to ensure they are making progress toward completing their degrees.

Keeping Grades Updated

One of the steps is to make sure all grade changes, transfer credits, and study abroad credits are awarded in time for the registrar to process the degree. Incompletes must also be updated on transcripts before a student can graduate. The Office of the Registrar requires that students ensure all grading information is updated as early as possible. Once degrees are awarded, no changes may be made.

Major and Minor Requirements

When a degree is awarded, all major and minor requirements should have been met. If a student has earned their degree, they cannot move forward to finish a minor.

Graduate Degrees

The Division of Graduate Studies (DGS) supports graduate students as they prepare to complete their degrees. DGS confirms that a student is eligible to graduate and will share this information with the Office of the Registrar so that we can award the degree, update transcripts, and order diplomas. More information for graduate degree completion is available on the DGS website.

Degree Verification

We understand that, for various reasons (employment, graduate school, Teach for America, SACM, etc.), many students need to verify degree completion as soon as possible. The Office of the Registrar is unable to verify degree completion until your degree has officially been awarded. Once your degree has been awarded, you can show evidence of your degree to a third party by using your official transcript. Diplomas are generally mailed two to three weeks after the degree is awarded.
