A waitlist is an ordered list of students hoping to enroll in a class that is currently full. If a class offers a waitlist, when the class fills you can join the waitlist (first-come, first-served). If an enrolled student drops the class, the first person on the waitlist is notified that a seat is available. You must take action; you have 24 hours to register in MyUO.
Here’s your quick guide to waitlisting:
- Spot a Full Class: Review the “Seats” column when searching for a class. Courses marked as FULL may have an additional line of information about waitlist seats that are available.
- Join the Waitlist: Try to register for the course. If it is full, you will receive a message telling you to select the action of “Waitlist.” In the Summary area, select “Waitlist” and click Submit.
- Check Your UO Email Daily: A message is sent when a seat is available. Log in to MyUO to register for the class. Remember, you have 24 hours to register from the time the email is sent.
- Keep It Tidy: Once your schedule is set, remove yourself from any waitlists you no longer need.
When navigating waitlists, keep in mind:
- Waitlists are only for full classes.
- Not every class offers a waitlist.
- Waitlists have a set number of spaces.
Registration Time Limit for Waitlisted Courses
Check your UO email often. You have 24 hours to register from the time the waitlist notification is sent. Waitlisting closes at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday of Week 1.
Fall Term Heads-Up
Waitlisting is suspended during IntroDucktion but is typically available again in August. Review the academic calendar for details.
