Language Requirements
English is the language of instruction at the University of Oregon. As we understand that our experience is enriched when we learn additional languages, the university has found ways to infuse second-language proficiency in the curriculum. Thus, all students who earn a bachelor of arts must show intermediate proficiency in another language in order to obtain their degree.
Students meet the language requirement in two primary ways:
- Demonstrate proficiency through approved tests.
- Take language courses.
Information about the language requirement is available through the College of Arts and Sciences and in the UO catalog.
