Courses and Credits

Courses

  • View course information online at the UO Class Schedule. No courses are designated specifically for non-degree seeking students.
  • Non-degree seeking students may register for any UO credit course if space is available, the course level is appropriate, and all prerequisites have been satisfied.
    • Non-degree seeking students without a bachelor's degree will be classified as undergraduate students and may only enroll in undergraduate-level courses.
    • Registration for courses that have pre-requisites must be pre-approved by the specific academic department and/or course instructor.
  • CEP students follow the same Academic Calendar and deadlines as admitted students.
  • If you are seeking professional development workshops or lifelong learning opportunities we invite you to explore the programs offered by Continuing and Professional Education.

Credits

Non-degree seeking students may register for up to 8 credits during the regular academic year (fall, winter, and spring terms), and more credits during summer term. These credit limits are set by the UO Provost and cannot be waived. Those wishing to register for more credits should seek formal admission to the University of Oregon.

Credits acquired through the non-degree seeking program will appear on an official UO transcript and may be applied to a degree program.

Transferring Credits

The non-degree seeking program is not a degree enrollment program, but credits earned are recorded on a UO transcript and may be applied toward a degree if you are later admitted. The UO only allows a maximum of 15 credits earned prior to admission to be applied toward a master's degree; some master's degree programs have a lower limit. If you plan on seeking a master's degree in the future, you should contact your intended academic program directly for their policy regarding applying non-degree credits after admittance.

Students planning to transfer credits from the UO to another institution should check transfer policies at that institution.

Transcripts

Credits acquired through the non-degree seeking program will appear on your official UO transcript. Please visit the Office of the Registrar's transcript page for additional information on how to request a transcript.

You can access grade information and unofficial transcripts in DuckWeb.
