Using TES® (Transfer Equivalency System)

The TES® tool is based on institutions’ catalogs. You will notice indicators about credits. Those values are the catalog credits at an institution. This is not the credit value that a student would receive transferring the course here. Received transfer credits are based on what the sending institution's official transcript reports a course credit value. Domestic institutions are on a quarter system or semester system.

The conversion is as follows:

School Conversion Institution’s Credits Credits at UO
Quarter 1:1 3 3
Semester 1:1.5 3 4.5

For example, here is an institution in which the catalog credits are different than the University of Oregon's:

UO Catalog Courses vs. Transfer Elective Codes:

  • UO courses are in our catalog.  The catalog provides the official title and credits.
  • Transfer Elective Codes - these codes are used for articulating elective transfer courses and applying the credit to a student's university requirements. These codes are not in the University catalog. The credits will not display. The descriptors are there to help the reader know what the code means and any attributes attached to the course. The “T” stands for transfer.

100T – Arts and Letters
110T – Social Science
120T – Science
121T – BS Math or Science
127T – BS Math
